The Victoria Mansion
The Victoria Mansion was built in 1858-1860 and over 90% of the original furnishing remain intact and available for viewing. Open May through November.

Maine Narrow Guage Railroad Company and Museum
The Maine Narrow Guage Railroad Company and Museum offers train rides, a museum, and gift shop. A great place to take the kids, or for those of you with an interest in the early railroad in rural Maine. Located right on the Portland waterfront.

Landmarks Tours
Greater Portland Land Marks offers walking tours of the city, including the Observatory on Munjoy Hill offering fabulous views of Portland, Back Cove, Casco Bay and even Mt. Washington.

Historical Sights
Fort Pemaquid, Lighthouse, Beach
Pemaquid is a great stop on your trip up the Maine coast combining a lighthouse and state park, beach, a breathtaking view of waves crashing over a long finger of rock extending into the ocean, and Fort Pemaquid. The Friends of Colonial Pemaquid keep a nice web page with events planned year round.

Fort Knox
Fort Knox is a fabulously well preserved fortification overlooking the Penobscott Narrows. Visitors can walk through the galleries and stand at the batteries. An observation tower at the Penobscott Narrows Bridge is accessible from the fort and the view is incredible.
