Huzzah! 2011 will bring together historical wargamers from throughout New England for a full weekend of wargaming in Portland, Maine.

The Maine Historical Wargamer's Association is pleased to bring to the wargamers of New England, Huzzah! 2010. This is going to be a great show with historical miniatures games, board games, tournaments, speakers, a painting contest, vendors, and several other "events" within the main event. Billed as a Historical Wargaming Convention for New England, we hope to see all the clubs of the region represented. As many of you know, we have been working over the last several months to contact and encourage wargamers with an interest in history to join us.

Guest Presentations at Huzzah! Updated 3/26/2010

The Maine Historical Wargamers Association is pleased to welcome a compelling line-up of of guest speakers for Huzzah! Join us in the lounge during scheduled sessions to participate in topics such as the American Civil War, German Panzer tactics, and to listen to a veteran of the World War II Normandy campaign recount his experiences.

Participation in these presentations is free to the public though seating is limited. Paid attendees of Huzzah! who select these sessions as part of their registration will be guaranteed seats.

Huzzah! Helm awarded to Battlegroup Boston!

The Maine Historical Wargamers Association is pleased to announce that the first annual Huzzah! Helm has been awarded to Battlegroup Boston for their participation at Huzzah! The race was strong, with four clubs in contention till the end. Congratulations and thank you to BGB for their strong showing!

Shipyard Best of Show Award to Scott Mingus

The Maine Historical Wargamers Association is pleased to announce that Scott Mingus was awarded the Shipyard Brewing Company Best of Show award for his game, Reynold's Defense of Pipe Creek. The game was one of many that represented the best of what our hobby provides. The game was visually attractive, and presented players with tough tactical challenges within a historical context. Huzzah! to Scott for his superb game.

Sabis game test photos available

Our club is preparing a game for Huzzah! depicting a portion of the Battle of Sabis. In the battle, Caesar is nearly defeated by 50,000 or so Nervii near the River Selle. This game will run for two sessions at the convention, Saturday afternoon and evening. Howard Whitehouse will be on hand to help us run it and to answer questions about the upcoming ancients rules release, Clash of Iron.

Huzzah! Convention T-shirt proof is here!

Andy Niven has been working with the folks at Shipyward Brewing Co. and their t-shirt supplier to complete the design for this year's convention t-shirt. The shirt will feature the convention logo on the front, designed by Tony Reiger of Portland, Maine, and Shipyard Brewing Co.'s Chamberlain Ale logo on the back.

Battlefront Donates Gale Force 9 Basing Materials for Sabis

Great news! The folks from Battlefront have been following the MHWA club project for Huzzah!, the Battle of Sabis, and have donated a box filled with Gale Force 9 basing supplies! 40 jars of flock, grass, grit, and related basing bits arrived on the doorstep today.

A huge thanks to Dave Taylor of Wargames Illustrated and Joe Krone of Battlefront for following the effort and taking action to help.

The Sky is Aflame FOW National Qualifier Tournament at Huzzah!

The MHWA is pleased to announce that Gordon of Adler Hobby in NH is organizing a National Qualifying Tournament for Huzzah! This will be a 1650 point mid-war event comprised of three rounds. The tournament will be held on Saturday, May 1st of the convention and will last most of the day. Games will begin at 10:00am sharp!
